if an oven dish is ok to put on the hob, to make gravy in?

I have ceramic dishes, glass dishes, and metal ones. I never end up making gravy ...

all metal ones would be fine I am sure.

metal ones will be fine.

I'd avoid class ones on he hob.

Ceramic ones, hard to tell, the problem is more that is will get very hot and might not have a proper handle for you to actually hold it with.

No ceramic ones - they will just crack from the direct heat of the hob. I guess same with glass (although only had bad experience with a ceramic dish!)
