Can I stuff the Turkey on Xmas Eve

To save time on Xmas morning, can I stuff the turkey the night before? I am just using stuffing from a packet (Paxo), so I would have to leave it cool before stuffing it in the turkey. I would probably cook for the turkey for an extra 20 mins because of the stuffing, does this sound right?

I am not a great cook, but am making Xmas dinner for 12 people and want to make it as easy as poss on the day!

Yes i would/do. Remember do no stuff the cavity only the neck end.

I take out of the fridge an hour before cooking to bring up to room temp so it cooks more evenly.

Sorry dd2 pressed post.

I also cover with butter under then skin and bacon on top.

Thanks. So if I mix the stuffing with boiling water and then leave it to completely cool down, will it be the right consistency to stuff the turkey?

yes, and it will be easier to mould into the shape to stuff the turkey.

Sounds fine. Fry up some diced onion in butter until softened and mix in with the paxo if you want it to be more moist.

You can also add chopped dates / apricots and/or fresh herbs (rosemary/thyme).

Thanks, every minute saved on Xmas morning will be a help!

To be honest, I never stuff the turkey. I make stuffing balls and serve separately.
