I think DS is ready to start helping to make bits and bobs but I have forgotten how to make even simple buns. Does anyone have any very easy to make recipes for cakes/buns/cookies/etc. And what would I need? All I have is scales but am going into town later so will kit myself out. Thankyou so much - I have googled but what I come up with seems ... well, not very simple. THankyou

Well these little cheesy biscuits are really easy, or chocolate chip cookies are good. Muffins choc ones here are really easy for toddlers, they don't have to stir too hard. These are easier.

these oaty biscuits look nice but what is 'dairy free spread' ? Can you use butter instead?

WhirlingStirling · 15/12/2008 16:10

Yes - you can def use butter instead. I make them with Pure spread (tesco's sell it) as it is dairy free and my little dd is allergic to dairy and egg.

These are very easy, very yummy, and take a few minutes to make. (I don't put walnuts in mine though). Its quite good to make with littlelies as well, as they are so quick.

CHOCOLATE HAYSTACKS

2 c. sugar
1/3 c. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. butter

Bring to hard boil. Remove from heat.
Add:

3 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 c. coconut
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Dash salt

Bring first 4 ingredients to a hard boil on stove. Remove from heat and add rest of ingredients listed. Mix well together.
Drop by tablespoon onto wax paper. They will look like tiny haystacks. Cool and eat.
