Hosting an impromptu supper for friends

Sunday night we are having friends over for supper so we can pass on Christmas presents etc as we won't see each other until the new year.

So what can I make, I was hoping to do a 3 course but would settle for 2 - I'm not a fabulous cook but do have a few things in my repetoire (mainly vegetable soup/curry/tangine) but am open to ideas.

So any?

Lasagne is an easy make-ahead dish.
What about keeping the italian theme and serving parma ham type starter and a tirimisu?

or best easy pud in my repetoire - crush digestive biccies and mix with melted butter. press mix into a pie dish and stick in the fridge. When ready to serve pud, mix up some Choc Angel Delight and pour on base. Decorate with cho buttons!
Naff, but children and grown-ups alike seem to love it!

Lasgne would be good - not sure about tirimasu (1 fussy teenager! )
