Help - butter icing - salted or unsalted butter

REally dumb question but do you use salted or unsalted butter in butter icing?

Am making some fairy cakes but don't have enough unsalted to do both the cake and the icing - not sure whehter I can sneak some salted into one or the other or whether I have to get some more...

Thanks!

I use whichever I have in for either purpose, and my cakes and icing always fine

Same here. In fact I now find cakes taste a bit odd with unsalted as my mum never bought it - same with buttercream.

Thank you! Will put salted in the icing then
