Can't you re-hydrate it by adding stock wine or water? And fishing out the porridgey bits?

yes i'll bung some water in it. the children don't like the look of it though, it's like polyfilla

and did you just add the dumplings at the end?

mine sometimes does this and I just add more wayter in. is usually ok
