Quick help needed - what to use instead of barley wine in Xmas pudding?

I'm using a recipe mil gave me for Christmas pudding and the main liquid is barley wine - can't find any round here. I know mil uses some other beer if she can't find it. Any bright ideas please before Tesco shuts??

whatever you fancy really. DH has put port and massala in our Xmas cake.

Stout, ale, anything like that will work.

Barley wine is the equivalent of really strong beer, so anything along those lines will do. I'm sure Tescos will have some, though. Little gold cans.

ooh, yeah, Guiness

I’m trying to follow the Delia Smith Recipe for Xmas pud and I’ve previously bought Barley Wine from the local Purley Surrey branch of Tesco’s where I work. But they’ve stopped selling it this year for some reason. This advice is very very useful tho. I’ll try another strong ale in addition to the usual Stout (Guinness) . Thank you all so much!

I just add more stout

Guiness
