Usually use two sandwich tins, but using one square tin (then split in two to put filling in) to make a figure 7 for birthday tea this afternoon.

How much flour do you think? 10 oz? Is there a clever website that will help me work it out, or does anyone know about these things?

10oz probably about right though I would make mine by weighing 4 eggs and then using the same weight of sugar, butter and SR flour. From long experience this seems to work slightly better than the more conventional way. 4 eggs will weigh between 8 oz and 10 oz.
