Do baked beans count as one of your 5 a day? Does this also apply to children? ds loves baked beans, I give him the low salt and sugar variety, but I was hoping it might also count as a vegetable.

Yes, they do.

Fantastic, eh?

stressedsanta · 27/11/2008 20:18

yes we can all stop thinking baked beans are junk food

Goober · 27/11/2008 20:18

Yes.

PortAndLemon · 27/11/2008 20:19

Yes, but pulses can only count as one portion a day no matter how many you eat.

cousinsandra · 27/11/2008 20:19

yes, and they are super high in fibre too! If you get the no added sugar/salt ones, there are a pretty healthy option! (so you can have loads of grated cheese on top!)

oooh lovely, I can relax a bit when ds eats baked beans with gusto
