where can i buy a cheap 8 and 9 inch loose bottomed round cake tin??

do supermarkets sell the loose bottomed ones? what about matalan?

try TKMaxx if you have one near. Their bakeware is really good quality and reasonably priced. Tho can't guarantee they'll have what you're looking for of course.

no TKMaxx Matalan only had sandwich tins as did Asda.

I have got a 9in sprung cake tin you can borrow if you like - is that the sort you mean? With a catch on the side that undoes so the bottom comes out?

Or try a local cookware shop but they are Not Cheap - mine are all old ones that came from my grandma's house!

wilko's website had none but do they have more stuff instore? oh why didn't i think of sainsbury's. i walked by there today. Will take you up on your offer AA if I can't find one but would like one to keep for myself if possible.
