Roast chicken.
sausage and mash.
soup, bread, cheese, cold meat, nice bits
quiche, salad, with bread and cheese for littlies.

Those are my regular lunch menus for families anyway...

I guess it depends on how good eaters the children are. I usually plan menus for families assuming that they are unlikely to like anything unfamiliar like a stew, so have some plain things (bread and cheese) plus some more adult oriented stuff.
I've found the roast dinner goes down universally well, and easy to pick some nice bits off for the one year olds.

yes, meringues also v popular - I often do them if I've done a quiche as can use the extra yolks in that.
