lots of the posher supermarkets will have canned pumpkin - try Selfridges/independent Delis/Waitrose/Harrods

In Bristol - tried various delis and called Waitrose. They said they had it for Halloween?

i mean ebay

NotQuiteCockney · 24/11/2008 18:37

a) there are various American food providers online, just google.

b) ocado now stocks it (along with eggnog, yum!)

c) selfridges

d) you can make your own - just chop up and roast pumpkin (or butternut squash) in the oven, then remove peel (and any seeds/fibre you missed while cutting it up), and puree it. If you're very fussy, run it through a sieve.

Not Quite, what do I google?

I looked for 'american food uk' and got quite a few sites.

Is your thanksgiving this week, though? You might be better off just going to Selfridges - are you in London?

ClementFreudsGreatestAdmirer · 24/11/2008 21:49

yes. the ebay shop that sells it is called ' i shop 4 you ii '. i also found this on another online forum:

A friend in the USA recently sent me her two best Pumpkin Pie Recipes - insisting that the fresh ones we buy here are not suitable, Canned Pumpkin is definitely best. After reading your question and seeing that you still haven't found it over the past year, thought you might like to see the response I got from Waitrose Customer Svcs this week:
"I have researched our product assortment database and I am pleased to advise that Libby's Pumpkin (canned) is available in our branches. Should you find that this product is not in stock upon your next visit, please don't hesitate to speak with a member of the Customer Service Team in the branch who would be pleased to order the product in for you. When enquiring about this product in branch, please quote line number 020530."

Thank you all sooo much!

I called Waitrose and quoted the number, Clement, but it would appear that there is a world wide shortage of pumpkin . But the reference number was really helpful as I had this really stupid conversation with them yesterday....

I was appalled that the cans were going for £5.00 on ebay and postage from the US at £7.50, so very called the deli direct and they sold it to me at £2.50!

Was it wrong not to mention to them that there were bids double this?

So, thanks for saving Thanksgiving!!!!
