Nuts and a two year old...

My two year old has just been tucking into a bowl of pistachios, cashews and peanuts with great gusto. I suddenly thought that perhaps he shouldn't be eating them. Anyone enlighten me?

I think the advice is no whole nuts under 5 due to choking but I have to admit we aren't that strict. And DS, also two, has been having nuts in things since he was 1 year (and we have a nut allergy in the family).

Yes, whole nuts are a choking hazard under 5 but chopped up and ground in things is good for them if they're not allergic.

Think we are a bit obsessed with choking hazzards in this country - my 2 year old eats nuts when I have them out.
