I normally make a tomatoey, veg lentil soup but I am a bit bored of this.

I fancy making a normal vegetable soup...would appreciate any ideas of what to put in it to make it tasty

I did a nice one the other day with what I had lying around, which was carrot, onion, potato, brocolli and left over cauliflower cheese. Simmered it, then pureed and added some milk and a bit of phildelphia cheese. Really tasty and comforting.

i also use lentils alot and split peas in winter

yesterday i did red and yellow lentils, leeks, carrots, greeen beans, peas, cabbage, squash
mix of chopped and grated depending on how thick you like it

lemon zest zings it up a bit

infact i do a lovely lentil tomato and lemon one but sounds like what you are trying to avoid atm!

i've just made a veggie soup with onion, carrot, parsnip and potato. Simmer it in veg stock, add herbs and black pepper, wizz with hand blender. Gorgeous! I asked DS1 if he liked it, and he said 'Mmmmmmmmmmm!'
