If I give them cheese savoury one more time I think they're leaving home.

Blue cheese and blackcurrant jam
Cheddar and Beetroot, both thickly sliced
Strawberry Jam and Basil Leaves
and from my 1980s youth.....strawberry jam and ready salted crisps, I suppose you could update it to Bonne Maman Conserve and Ready Salted McCoys or Kettle Chips

Peanut butter and honey
Marmite and lettuce
Cheese, mango chutney and plain crisps.
Raisins and honey.
Cream cheese and tomato (with black pepper and granary bread, that's my all time favourite sandwich)

this all sounds very impressive. DS1 gets cross if I mix his sandwiches up with DS2's and he has to eat Dairylea instead of just butter.....

mistlethrush · 17/11/2008 22:20

Alfalfa is really nice in sandwiches - and its easy to grow - which should encourage the children to eat it. Use like cress. Very nice with crunchy peanut butter (if you're allowed to use that) also good with different types of cheese, ham etc.

Egg, very finely chopped onion and chopped tomatoes, with mayonnaise/salad cream (which ever you prefer)

Tuna, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, dash of chilli powder and finely chopped red pepper

Chicken, bacon, fresh lime juice and mayonnaise with lots of black pepper

Cheese, finely chopped celery and salad cream

And of course, the always delicious fishfingers and salad cream sandwich!

A chapati rolled up with chopped up onion bhaji, cucumber and lettuce is something my dd1 likes occasionally.

Pitta with falafel and salad is another but with both of them it's hard to keep the filling in.

DD2 likes cream cheese with sliced cold sausage, or salami, which makes me shudder.

MERLYPUSS · 17/11/2008 22:56

Red jam, Lime marmalade and lemon curd in stripes across the bread. Voila ! Traffic light sandwiches.
I love raspberry jam, strong cheddar and lettuce.

TeenyTinyTorya · 17/11/2008 22:57

Cheese and jam is the best!

stealthsquiggle · 17/11/2008 23:02

DS's favourite is a wrap with mayo, ham, cucumber and beetroot.

phdlife · 17/11/2008 23:06

my mum used to finely grate chocolate onto our sandwiches (to use up easter eggs). before there was nutella!

Grublin · 17/11/2008 23:08

You realise that after reading this ~ I'm going to have to go and make a sandwich now!
Thank god I'm starting my diet next week!

SpookyGrrrl · 18/11/2008 04:59

not savoury, but banana and honey is lovely. So is ham, egg and avocado.

Buda · 18/11/2008 06:01

Sigh. Out of all of these DS would go for the cream cheese and ham.
