Have I wasted this meal- eat or throw out, what would you do?

Last night DH made Lamb Gumbo and left it on the hob to cool. He was meant to put it in the fridge before bed but he forgot. It has been out all night in a covered saucepan. It has lamb, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, rice, stock and spices. So can we still eat it tonight?

yes, do as tmmj says and it'll be fine.

PandaG · 17/11/2008 08:16

I would still eat it, reheated thoroughly as tmmj says. wouldn't give it to guests just in case though! sounds yummy!

i have left meat things out overnight to cool like this (sometimes forgotten, sometimes knowingly) and never had a problem with thorough reheating.

We always leave things over night to cool properly - especially in winter. It's unlikely to be significantly warmer than the fridge would have been (unless you live in the tropics or something)
