Tinned salmon. I can't remember why I bought it but there it is. What can I make with it?

I also have some puffed pastry. Would they work together? Or does tinned salmon have to be eaten cold?

What would I do with the salmon. Add stuff to it. Put it on the pastry? Sort of tart?

I would probably make a white sauce (do you know how to do that- I can tell you, or you can buy a packet mix), cook some veggies, maybe mushrooms, courgettes, chuck in some peas, and add them and the salmon to the sauce to make a nice creamy mixture.

Then add into a pie dish, cut a circle of puff pastry and lay it on the top and bake.

I wouldn't line the dish with puff pastry as it will just go soggy.

Okay. I have mushrooms and peas. I can probably manage that. I'm useless at white sauces and usually cheat with melting some cream cheese. You're a star. I have to wait in for a repair man who will probably take all day so I can't nip out to the shops.

Ooh even more. Salmon fish cakes sounds good too. Though, on balance I fancy a pie.

I found a tin of it in the cupboard this week, but it was BBE 2000, so I threw it away.

We used to have it in sandwiches all the time as kids. Was that just a very 80's thing?

Salmon mousse is nice but not really a meal. If this was me I'd do the fishcakes.
