Adding rice to a stew - you can do this, right?

Fed up of always having potatoes, so I've made a sausage and lentil stew and I thought I'd add some rice near the end. Will this work?

just keep an eye on the juice level as it will soak up a lot of the liquid so you might need to add a touch more stock.

I did add some as it got really thick, and it's turned out perfect! Thanks.

Could use mini pasta or couscous next time too!

PavlovtheCat · 12/11/2008 17:11

oh yes mini pasta, I love adding this soup/stews - drives DH mad!

What time am I due over for my helping of it CharCharGabor?

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/11/2008 23:44

yep

i do this, makes it really nice and thick and really fills you up

StubbleOnChin · 12/11/2008 23:58

Q.. Do you wash the rice before adding to reduce the starch levels, or just whack it in ?! I only ask as i generally use lentil to thicken the stew.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2008 00:10

whack it in

StubbleOnChin · 13/11/2008 00:26
