Making puff pastry

I am making Little Eccles Mince Pies and am making the puff pastry rather than buying a block as per the method. It says half butter half lard but I don't have any lard. Can I use double the butter or does that make it not puff pastry? All else fails I am going to do short crust pastry but interested all the same. TIA.

Shortcrust pastry uses lard/butter but for puff pastry I have always used all butter.

Complete opposite to what my book says but I will make the puff pastry with all butter. Thanks!
