Put the chocolate in a glass bowl over a pot of boiling water, making sure that the bowl doesn't touch the water and stir.

break up and put in a heat proof bowl.. put water in sausepan.. put bowl of choc in water in pan.. and heat.. stir occasionally and don't let the water get into the choc!

You put it in a bowl (not plastic). Then boil a pan of water - you can fill it from the hot tap to save time and put the bowl on top of the pan and stir the chocolate.

You can do it in the microwave but it needs to be on a very low heat.

I do it in the microwave all the time - I put the chocolate in a pyrex bowl, sprinkle a bit of water it, and nuke on low. Is galaxy just plain chocolate?

Did you leave the tinfoil wrapper on?

Only takes 10-15 seconds in the microwave.
As DS2 discovered a while ago.
It took the kitchen a fair while to recover from the smell.

Thank you - you have saved the day!

I left it for a minute in the micro. It looks like curry paste with burns!
