What's the point in eating sweetcorn?

... if it passes straight through you?! (sorry if TMI) 10 MO DS loves gnawing on a section of corn on the cob, but like adults, it goes straight through him. Does he get any nutrition or energy from it?!

Good for the jaws and some fibre gets through. Also has certain vitamins, not sure what.
