When it says line the tin with parchment paper, does it mean the whole tin or just the bottom?

just the bottom. Greaseproof paper works.

I would do the bottom and the sides - you see, I am happy to answer and help even though you have been nasty about my friend Cod

If you do the sides, how does that work? I always grease the tin, but line the bottom. Usually with a cheating circle from Lakeland.
