Tesco have a halal meat section in Purley, Surrey .They prob have in all branches. You could call your local branch.

Would kosher do? IRRC, my Muslim friends ate kosher meat. If so, then there will be plenty of kosher suppliers in or near N London - Golders Green, for example.

Sorry for coming back to this so late I thought no-one had answered. Tere is a halal section in our Tesco's but they only do lamb and chicken no turkey. Im afraid Kosher wont do either. thanks for the suggestions.

Asda at Colindale used to have a huge halal meat section, dunno if they still do cos I've not been there for ages but might be worth giving them a ring or popping in for a lookie?

Edgeware road, the 'Maroush' delicatessan
we got turkey from there last year, but was very expensive £35-40 they had a duck for £20 ish

littleducks · 06/12/2008 12:07

this is the link with the address for sat nav, maybe worth a call if you have to travel far, but they are open from 8 in the morning to midniught so easy in that regard

bigTillyMint · 06/12/2008 12:09

I think (LONG time since I went in there...) that the big Tesco's at Brent Cross might.

Or was it a Kosher section

staryeyed · 06/12/2008 17:21

i didnt actually go last year dh did and he said no, but might be worth checking as i dont think he knew what to look for/could describe it well as he was just going on my instructions over the phone otherwise i just do pots in mix of butter and oil which works reasonably well

staryeyed · 06/12/2008 18:52

well I will definitely check. thanks again.

There are halal butchers in the Turnpike Lane/Green Lanes area but I'm not sure if they do much beyond chicken.

The best ones locally for a range of meat are Baldwins and also Freemans (I can check for you but it won't be until next week)

I'm pretty sure Baldwin's is halal

staryeyed · 06/12/2008 20:33

Thanks mercy. Where is Baldwins?

We went to Maroush last night thanks little ducks. I did ask for goose fat but they didn't really understand so I don't think they have it. was quoted very reasonable prices as well.
