mottley choc on peppermint creams - help please

made peppermint creams yesterday & today dipped in plain chocolate - it was cheapo supermarket stuff & melted in microwave. Just now when I went to eat a few I saw the choc looked like choc that's been in the fridge too long - whitish & mottley. Was this from melting technique or do I need better choc? Want to do these as xmas pressies so they need to look good!

Hmm. Chocolate "blooms" in conditions where there's too much moisture - this explains it well and tells you how to prevent it.
