Can I freeze chillis

I have a very successful chilli plant - ie lots of chillis which will go to waste unless frozen. Can I freeze them whole or should I deseed them first?

why not dry them instead?

BigAxeToChopOffYourThread · 30/10/2008 19:15

or pickle them?

I am a chilli-novice and wouldn't know how to go about drying or pickling them - or is drying them as simple as it sounds and I just leave them somewhere to dry ??

I've chucked them in a sandwich bag and defrosted them a few weeks later and they've been fine

I have no clue either on drying or pickling

or you can deseed and chop them and then freeze them in icecube trays...put the amount of chilli that you'd like to use at one time and top up with water and freeze. Pop into a bag once frozen then add a cube/2 to your cooking.

we had a v successful plant too. nice!

pretty much, sarahsmummy, i left some out to dry on some kitchen roll, then put them in a jar when dry and crispy. Then just crumble in the required amount.

thats a good idea too tassissss

my dh just freezes them whole and chops them while still frozen - they are easier to chop that way.

Great - thanks. Looks like I can pretty much do anything with them!
