EGGs two days past best before date - ca I still use them to bake cake?

They should still be fine if the date was a 'best before' shouldn't they?

they should be ok - however I think cakes bake best with fresh eggs so it may not rise very well.

If they are off they smell off when you crack them.

you could float them to see whether they are ok or not - put in a bowl of water, if they sink they are ok, if they float they are off...

To check put them in a bowl of cold water, "if they sit on the bottom in a horizontal position they are fresh, semi-vertical not so fresh but ok. If they pop up completely vertical they are stael and don't use" Delia Smith's book always worked for me.

Do it. I used eggs past their date all the time. Do try the floating thing though.

I know my problem is going to be I won't be able to rembember whether it should float or sink ....
