I did mine for nine hours (on medium) yesterday. It wasn't meant to be that long - we went out for the day and got stuck in a major motorway snarl-up on the way back. The book said six hours on medium iirc. It was really nice and tender, though it did fall apart when I cut it!

I stick mine in about 10am and dish up at about 5:30pm and it is always lovely.

I always chuck mushrooms in with mine and they are lovely.

I would say 7-8 hours, but will be ok for ages if you are out.
