Bought some casserole beef and put it in fridge without checking the date the used by date was the 18th...i put it in freezer very early morning of 20th..it was still of good colour.....

..i just panicked and shoved it in....can it still be used do you think??? or am i going to poison everyone?

I need to buy an extra freezer....i never have enough room for fresh meat on shopping day.

I'd use it - If it was in the fridge and now the freezer and then you stew it for hours, should be fine

Marvellous, i will defrost it and see what it is like...if all good will casserole it.

Thanks

beef is the one meat I have often used slightly over dates (ie, within 2days). it is a meat that is supposed to improve with age anyway tho, and I was always told that red beef is not ready to be used

if it is slightly grey looking then I don't use, but brownish if fine.

well, it must be, I haven;t killed us off yet
