have found some great cutters reduced on the www.stickymitts.co.uk website.
my fave biscuit recipe is: 8 oz self raising flour, 5 oz butter, pinch salt, 4 oz caster sugar and a beaten egg to mix.
sift flour and salt into bowl, rub in butter finely and then add sugar.
Mix to a very stiff dough with the beaten egg, turn out on to a lightly floured board, knead gently until smooth.
put into a polythene bag or wrap in foil, chill in fridge for 30 mins.
roll our fairly thinly, transfer to buttered baking trays, prick biscuits with fork. bake in centre of mdod oven (180c/350f/gas 4) for 12-15 mins.
leave on tray for 2 to 3 mins, transfer to wire cooling rack.
options: add 1 level tsp of finely grated lemon or orange rind with the sugar.
add 2 oz grated chocolate with the sugar
add 2oz currants with sugar
or 2oz dessicated coconut
or half teaspoon of vanilla ess with the egg.
OR when biscuits are cold sandwich together with jam and sprinkle tops with icing sugar.
