OK the topic link is tenuous but I am having real problems drinking in pubs

Mainly because I don't drink alcohol

But neither do I drink coke/OJ/fruit juices

I don't like lemonade out of the tap thingie/J2O

& mainly I like sweet drinks (at home I like ribena or Welshs Grape & peach juice)

So can you suggest something I could drink?

I like tonic water with a slice of lemon.

LadyLaGore · 16/10/2008 22:41

soda and lime

KatyMac · 16/10/2008 22:41

Not nearly sweet enough

I don't do water - it makes me pass out

blackcurrent?

LadyLaGore · 16/10/2008 22:42

they have blackcurrent cordial in pubs. for rum and black. ask for rum and black without the rum

LadyLaGore · 16/10/2008 22:43

xpost (we must be right)

KatyMac · 16/10/2008 22:43

No because they generally buy cheap(er) squash & that tend to have artificial sweetners in (ribena doesn't)

Blackcurrant cordial and tap water. (THey will hate you as they can't charge you more than about 25p for it but are legally obliged to serve you). You could also try blackcurrant and soda/sparkling water. And some pubs still have bottles of lime cordial/orange squash/peppermint cordial behind the bar, you could try one of those.

ScareyBitchFeast · 16/10/2008 22:45

Anifrangapani · 16/10/2008 22:45

LadyLaGore · 16/10/2008 22:54

a packet of opal fruits and a glass of water??

ScareyBitchFeast · 16/10/2008 22:54

crisps and lemonade?

KatyMac · 16/10/2008 22:55

No - no water at all....

I'm not being intentionally awkward - it comes naturally

Lemonade and lime - my mum's favourite, and v. nice. Fresh orange and lemonade also nice. And look at virgin cocktails in cocktails list.

hunkermunker · 16/10/2008 22:56

Lemonade and lime.

Glass of hot water and a sachet of sugar or three.

KatyMac · 16/10/2008 23:01

That's how I have my tea-for all intents & purposes

It is getting boring - I tried that purple J2O & it was crap
