URGENT - cake topper advice

knat · 16/10/2008 10:38

got a cake topper for my dds birthday and have made teh cake - its her bday today and am trying to put the topper on but cant peel it off the backing. I've let it dry, blasted with hairdryer and loosened the edges as instructed but cant get it off in one piece - the icing just seems so thin! Any help please as want to get the cake assembled before dd comes home from school. thanks

Ive never used them but I'd have thought that using the hairdryer would make the icing soft and so worsen the situation.

What about bunging it in the freezer so that it hardens and then peeling it off?

the idea is that the hairdryer dries it out? Freezer might be an idea - although the icing sheet is so thin i'm worried i tmight break off!

No, I would have though the hairdryer would just melt it more and make it stickier?

Freezer sounds like the best option? Make it nice and dry and stiffer and you could run a thin pallette knife underneath to then lift it off once it's hardened?
