Not sure if this should go on here, but, does anyone know whether Tesco or Sainsburys have better loyalty card scheme?

I haven't looked at how many points you get per pound spent but when I used my points to get Legoland annual passes, with Tesco it was the same points cost for adults and children whereas Sainsburys had a cheaper deal for children. So I bought the adult ticket from Tesco & the child from Sainsburys. Does that make sense?

I guess it would help if you thought what you're going to spend the points on and then see how they compare - they seem to do lots of the same deals.

My aunt is a bit of a loyalty scheme nut and she always tells me not to bother with Nectar. She seems to be able to use her Tesco clubcard points for everything...

But you can pick up necter points in places other than sainsburys. Can't remember where though. Dh does alot of mileage so rakes them in from some petrol stations.

& I just booked my OU course through them

you can get nectar points in some pubs (not that I'm an alcy, used to work in one that gave them out )

And petrol stations, and some online retailers and I think some electrical stores as well

I have collected both and think that Tescos is much better - specially for days out etc. I dont believe you get as much with the Nectar points.

We have had 2 canal holidays, and a fortnight in Brittany, and a Haven holiday (only one we didn't enjoy sadly) plus rac membership and days out all with Tesco over the last few years

FWIW at Sainsburys, 1000 reward points is equivalent to £5. I shop at Sainsburys every week spending around £130-£150 on food and $50-£60 a fortnight on fuel. After nine months I have spent around £7k and I have totted up the princely sum of 12000 reward points. Or £60. Blooming marvellous.

tesco, we love our "free" trips

Tesco (and get yourself a clubcard credit card too, and get points on everything you buy).
I have a nectar card as well. In a year i got enough points to get tickets for the Eden Project.
In contrast Tesco points bought Merlin passes and half our summer holiday this year.

Definitely Tesco. And I agree with Chippy - if you get the credit card, you get a lot of extra points. We convert ours to BA Airmiles. Works a treat.

We have both and probably Tesco, because of deals plus they send money off vouchers. But Sainsburys locally stocks more of the things I want to get generally - we normally order monthly online but do odd bits of top up shopping. My mum's local Tesco is often better though it's half the size than our one.
