cook macaroni
steam broccoli and peas
mix the two together with lots of grated cheese, a bit of milk +/- some tinned tuna

Definite crowd pleaser for some reason

Savoury pancakes:

Pancake mix (either packet or 'proper')

Pour in to the pan and immediately sprinkle cheese / sweetcorn / mushroom etc in to the mix (as if it were an omlette i suppose)

We had a cheddar cheese risotto tonight - a sliced leek in tbsp olive oil, 8oz risotto rice (cheap as it is less than 1/2 box) glass of wine (ok not cheap, but also optional!) and 1/2 tsp dijon. Then add stock, 3/4 pint, till it absorbs, then 30z cheddar cheese. Scoffed by all and there was lots!

Cheesy beans on toast
(baked beans with grated cheese in).

Serve cucumber sticks on the side if fancy it.

Quesadillas:

Lightly fry a flour tortilla on one side til everso slightly golden but still soft. Turn over, sprinkle with cheese + whatever else you like (e.g. spinach leaves, mashed avocado, mashed kidney beans, tomato slices, diced smoked chicken, herbs etc). Place another flour tortilla on the top (that's been lightly fried on one side) and press it down and heat through until the cheese melts.

Tip out and cut in to triangles of loveliness. Good one for the kids to help make too as they can choose their fillings and add it.

Cowboy dinner - fry sausages put aside then fry chopped onion, chuck in tin of chopped tomatoes, tin of baked beans, tin of kidney/borlotti/haricot/whatever beans you like, mushrooms, fresh or tinned. Chop up sausages, add to the beans etc and cook through for 20 mins. Serve with rice. Sprinkle cheese on top if you want. Went down a storm here tonight! Reckon it cost about £3-4, depending on which sausages you buy. I bought best quality cumberland sausages at Aldi (British too!!) (£1.69) and they were delish.

Yoohoo! Kbear! Need you!

(Sorry for hijack!)

Kbear · 14/10/2008 22:36

Rolacola · 15/10/2008 12:04
