Nigella's portion control?

Does anyone else feel that her portions are ridiculously generous? I am making her lemon risotto and she recommends 300g of rice for two people? Doesn't that seem a lot?

regard nigella from the waist down

oh, wait, you never see it
that is because she is the size of a small winnebago

I allow 60g uncooked rice per person

haha - you're so right. It was her "quick supper for a friend" that consisted of deep fried squid and mayo that freaked me out - delicious, but I wouldn't serve a guest that with nothing else?!?

Yes, that's what I think too? Half a packet (which is less than 300g) would be what I'd do for four for dinner? Which is what I plan to do tonight.

Maybe she always freezes half?

PerkinWarbeck · 14/10/2008 17:08

300g?

DH and I have a just a little more than half that for two, and we are famed locally for our gluttony.

Goodness! I do 250g for me, dh and ds. We all have VERY healthy appetites and I think it's far too much for us!

Has anyone got that recipe book "roast chicken and other stories"? It's brilliant, but for four people, he recommends a chicken of at least 1.8 kg!!!

I did a 1.8 kg chicken the other day (tesco online - they got a little overexcited) and it feed me and DP generously for a roast dinner; me, DP and DP's sister for a generous cold meal the next day with salads; a healthy sized lunchtime snack for me the following day; and there's still a leg left. Plus I tossed LOTS into the stockpot.
