It s disgusting. Really. Bland and flavourless. If you want a quick carb accompaniment, make couscous or even rice.

I love butter beans - I'd just crush them a bit and add lots of black pepper

I have made butter beans mashed with horseradish before. It was quite nice. Part of some vegan thing I made for a friend involving boiled onions.
