Need some inspiration please

Ds2 is 1 at the weekend and we have some American relatives visiting. When they rang the other day they said they would love a proper English afternoon tea. I said I would do it for ds2 birthday party.
I have no idea what a proper English afternoon tea is? Please enlighten me

Scones with raspberry jam and clotted cream.
Cucumber sandwiches, crusts cut off, cut into fingers
Salmon sandwiches, crusts cut off, cut into fingers

Thank you. That sounds quite easy.

I would do maybe a victoria sponge cake with jam and cream(birthday cake?) too and some other types of sandwiches.

don't forget the cups (rather than mugs) with saucers and tea spoons & a nice table cloth

all from waitrose or M&S

flowers on the table

a few unpaid bills lying on the table so they take the hint and cough up, you are putting a lot of effort in to it afterall
