Oh good idea - might try that tomorrow. I hadn't thought of shortbread for cut-out cookies.

Thanks

Will report back, Madamedeathstare!

Does anyone else have a recipe? For ones that could be used for christmas cookies etc?

What about gingerbread ones? I just posted one on another thread - we used them last year just baked them a little longer so they didn't go soggy when iced and packaged or hung on the tree.

50g butter
50g caster sugar
100g golden syrup
1 heaped tsp ginger
200g self raising flour

heat oven to 180
melt butter, sugar and syrup together until sugar dissolves but do not allow to boil
mix in flour and ginger until smooth and manageable but fairly stiff
cool for 30 mins
roll out and cut out shapes
bakes for 10-12 mins

you can leave out the ginger or substitute with cinnamon/mixed spice etc

there is a really yummy egg free biscuit recipie in annabelle karmells baby and toder cook book

in the picture they are star shaped, with white icing and silver balls

i dont have the recipie as my book is at work, but if you can get hold of it then its well worth it.... my comment to the recipe (and i write a comment on every recipe i ever cook is "are these the best kids biscuits in the world?"

SuperBunny · 09/10/2008 19:30

Thanks NannyL - this is probably it, or similar

looks similar

i think (might be wrong and no book here to check) that my recipie uses cornflour somewhere in it too

SuperBunny · 10/10/2008 00:07

Right, I tried the Annabelle Karmel ones and they were delicious!

Will do shortbread next week.

Thanks for the help.
