i was like this last year roundabout this time, i think i had 18 quid to do a week shop, went to lidl.

pasta
tinned chopped toms
mince
noddles
lentils
potatoes
Baked Beans
cheap biscuits
tuna
cheap veg
(DH had lost his job and we were waiting for benefits to kick in)

we ate

Jacket pots with beans and cheese
tuna mayo
bolognaise
made a big vat of lentil soup that me and DH
lived off all week for lunches, kids were ok cos got a proper meal in school.
oh did buy some apples and bananas,so kids had some fruit each day.

we often talk about "skint week" and say arent we daft how much money we waste on food, and im planning to shop and cook as cheaply as possible in the next couple of weeks (just changed his job again and its getting near xmas), i enjoyed it weirdly enough!!!!

Do you have a Lidl near you?

I bought a carrier bag of stuff for £2.50 for the Harvest Festival collection at DS's nursery yesterday.

eg. Big bag of pasta was about 50p, tin of kidney beans 19p etc.

Their fruit and veg is very cheap too
