haven't got time to pie/crumble em first, so, to blanch or not to? My gut feeling is not, coz if i'm cooking em again after thawing, surely they'll end up as mush? any advice?

Just peel them and chop up...don't cook them before you freeze them cos like you've suggested it'll turn out like mashed spud!

I blanch mine - 30secs in boiling water then scoop out into cold water to stop cooking freeze flat on atray then put into bag as they take u less space.
