I never usually do. But wondered if anyone does, and if so, what? Seems to me like a meal in one if that makes sense?

Salad. Perhaps some nice bread.

castille · 03/10/2008 15:44

no, never

can't think of anything a proper risotto would go with actually

Lizzylou · 03/10/2008 15:44

No, even "bottomless pit" DH only ever has risotto, no need imo

TillyScoutsmum · 03/10/2008 15:46

Garlic bread sometimes but it doesn't need anything iyswim

littlerach · 03/10/2008 15:46

Crusty bread.

claireybee · 03/10/2008 15:47

Sometimes some ciabatta, sometimes salad.

brimfull · 03/10/2008 15:50

I wouldn't serve bread-too many carbs.
A nice rocket salad and white wine ,or a green veg like green beans or asparagus
Mmmmmmmm

platypussy · 03/10/2008 15:51

Yes we always have something with it. I love risotto but by itself is just a plateful of the same-tasting stuff mouthful after mouthful IYSWIM.

notsoteenagemum · 03/10/2008 16:05

It depends on the risotto, If its just a veggie one I serve a smaller portion with a chicken breast and some salad as DH needs his meat, but if ts a meat and veg one then no just as it comes.

Green veg?

ChopsTheDuck · 03/10/2008 16:09

not usually. Sometimes garlic bread, but do agree that it is carbs overload really.

NoblesseOblige · 03/10/2008 16:09

green beans.or salad.

yomellamoHelly · 03/10/2008 16:18

No. If we were having friends over I might get some rocket salad in, but that would be it.

mabanana · 03/10/2008 16:19

I like mushroom risotto with roast chicken. Yum. A tomato risotto works woith grilled fish.

Tommy · 03/10/2008 16:19

I don't but I know Nigel Slater suggests a salad

lucysmam · 03/10/2008 18:10

tomato risotto sounds interesting, have a recipe somewhere for that I think, may try it over the next few days. Looks like salad then if anything, couldn't do bread as would be too much for me to eat all together & I usually pop a chicken breast in for oh

Thanks everyone

Roasted asparagus, or green beans, or a rocket salad with balsamic vinegar and red onions. I always think it needs something a bit crispy to give it some contrast.

lucysmam · 03/10/2008 18:53

Roasted asparagus sounds tasty. May have a look for some asparagus in town tomorrow
