dh does them just like the spuds as you describe

Majeika · 21/09/2008 11:16

compo · 21/09/2008 11:16

I don't even bother to par-boil them. Just roast in the oven, first 20 minutes covered in foil, then uncovered with a drizzle of honey.

compo · 21/09/2008 11:18

how long for?

I steam them over the potatoes, then put them in a bowl with some olive oil and give tham a good rummage to cover. Then I either sprinkle in a little plain flour - to give a sort of nice crust.Bung in oven.

Don't cut them too thin otherwise they just go hard and over crisp.

uptomyeyes · 21/09/2008 11:21

Less time than the potatoes - say 30 minutes

compo · 21/09/2008 11:22

brilliant, thanks all

i dont par boil, just do with potatoes, and if you have plenty of oil they are delicious, but mine tend to burn quite easily so i have to keep an eagle eye on them.

compo · 21/09/2008 11:22

just told dh to go out to get honey with rest of shopping - his response 'won't marmalade do?'
men eh?!

marmalade would work actually. So would apricot jam.

compo · 21/09/2008 11:57

really any old maramlade? (he's not back yet so might have to)

I don't par boil- just bung in with the potatoes (which I do par boil) I like them a bit burnt - they go lovely and sweet. I don't buy parsnips at this time of year though - I leave it until after the first frost.

Overmydeadbody · 21/09/2008 12:11

Well, yes! You'll have parsnips with a hint of orange flavour, that's all.
