Stupid question about making muffins

RupertTheBear · 21/09/2008 10:13

I have never made muffins before (but bake a lot!) I have a muffin tin. All the recipes I have looked at say grease the muffin pans. Is that different from a muffin tin? I was going to buy paper muffin cases. What do you do? Should I just grease the tin and not bother with paper cases?

I always use paper cases. American recipes I think refer to "pans" but that's just the same as a UK "tin".

Without wishing to blow my own trumpet, this is a really reliable recipe.

I use

these silicone muffin cases

which are reusable & brilliant

Thanks for that. I was going to do savoury muffins - was thinking cheesy and bacony! Could I add those sorts of ingredients? Might just do cheese scones instead then I don't need to go out to get paper cases.

Yes you can definitely add that sort of thing. Not my cup of tea though!

Those silicone cases look great - do you just pop them into a muffin tin? Think I will order some.

Yes, pop them in a muffin tin if you like or I just put them straight onto a normal baking tray. You just wash them up afterwards and they are good to go again.
