Ok so I know that they are supposed to look a bit 'undone' when cooked.

But these are positively runny.

What shall I do?

ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

Take them out?

5 more minutes?

OP posts:
Cadbury · 18/09/2008 17:02

are they set in any part?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 17:03

Yes all round the edge, but th centre is ruuny.

If it is set around the edges but it wobbles slightly in the middle when you move it, they can come out, but if they move all over, they need longer. How long have the been in?

Cadbury · 18/09/2008 17:04

2 more mins then check again.

Twiglett · 18/09/2008 17:05

top should lighten a little and crack

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 17:06

30 mins at gas 4.

Very wobbly in the middle?

Dammit the ingredients very expensive, don't want to bugger them up.

OP posts:
WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 17:07

recipe says 25 mins.....

OP posts:
WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 17:07

Going to check for cracking......

OP posts:
WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 17:08

No cracking, have had nearly 35 mins now.

OP posts:
WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 17:18

50 minutes, still not cooked?

OP posts:
northernrefugee39 · 18/09/2008 17:18

Because they have melted real choc and butter, they will set as they cool.....the eggy bit will deffo be cooked after 35.
Are they ok?
Let us know?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 17:24

Ok have taken them out, after an hour.

Hope they arer ok, panicing slightly.

Cadbury · 18/09/2008 17:29

Are you sure your oven is working? It shouldn't take that much more than recommended in the recipe. I know I always add 10 mins to every recipe I use but that's becasue my oven is dreadful.

Cadbury · 18/09/2008 17:31

don't panic though - they will be delicious, cooked or not. If, somehow, they haven't set by the time they are cool, it will be fantastic on ice cream [looking on he brightside emoticon]

Aero · 18/09/2008 17:35

Despite Cadbury's 'dreadful' oven, she does indeed make the best cakes in it! An expert in brownie making!

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 17:46

What about overcooked?

As I think they are.

Damn.

OP posts:
WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/09/2008 19:33

No still liquid in the middle.

Oh well.

northernrefugee39 · 18/09/2008 19:42

How very most peculiar, that is unbelievable - after that long..

DisasterAreaIsOffToCostaRica · 18/09/2008 19:42

mmmmmm can i have one? i love undercooked cake. all puddingy and gooey.
put in large bowl with loads of cream.

aaahhhh. heaven - almost orgasmic salivating deliciousness.

Cadbury · 18/09/2008 20:06

have you left them to cool in the tin?

My guess would be your oven, or maybe the mixture was too runny.

What recipe were you using?

twoluvlykids · 18/09/2008 20:09

are they edible?

i won't make you jealous, will i, if i tell you mine have just turned out perfick (as usual)

Twiglett · 18/09/2008 21:29

soggy brownie mix makes a good filling for a Victoria Sponge cake .. alongside whipped cream of course

too many eggs?

fishie · 18/09/2008 21:31

too much fat? what sort of choc have you used? they will prob set but might be greasy.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 19/09/2008 14:36

The recipe was

7oz butter melted
6 heaped tbsp coca mixed in

4 eggs whisked, plus 14 oz caster sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract

then 4oz flour and 14 oz walnuts.

I put them in the fridge overnight, and they kind of set but are very gooey.

On the plus side they are possibly the nicest brownies I have ever eaten, and I would deff. continue to use this, over my old recipe.

Just have to tweak the cooking bit, maybe I will try a shallower tin.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my major panic you are all very fab and lovely.
