borlotti beans are great in stews and casseroles.

no idea about the other things sorry!

themildmanneredstalker · 14/09/2008 12:54

salsify

grouchyoscar · 14/09/2008 12:55

No you're not failing

Borlotti beans make a lovely soup and you can add them to stews

Pumpkins. You can roast them, make soup, gnocci.

Salsify I'm stumped on

themildmanneredstalker · 14/09/2008 12:59

another salsify idea here

MoChan · 14/09/2008 13:02

Always wanted to try salsify but never got my hands on it. Don't know what I'd've done with it, though, sorry.

Borlotti beans are good in a nice 'rustic' bean soup with tomatoes, onions, peppers, paprika...

ah ok re borlottis. they look v pretty must say. are they edible when not all white and pink, or should i only eat the 'ripe' ones?

most of the plants themselves have succumbed to blight, what with this suddenly turning into a rainforest zone so am harvesting last of saveable crops.

about to click on salsify links... theyre a funny thing. so far have cleaned them up by scrubbing and then fried in butter with teeny little failed carrots. yum, but they dry out a lot quicker than carrots.

can i keep a pumpkin for halloween d'you think? or will it be rotten by then?

[spose i get some points for actually growing the things in first place arf]
