Wow I haven't heard cakes being called buns since my great nan was alive . What's so wrong with cupcakes anyway? So what if the term came from America? The product is actaully different from a fairy cake or a muffin, hence needing it's own name, at least the way I bake them.

What about muffins then? Like the yummy blueberry, choc, etc muffins as opposed to the savoury muffins that you toast for breakfast. Do they provoke the same furour as cupcakes?

jasper · 12/09/2008 22:50

fairycakes every time.PLEASE

Unless you are in the USA

Muffins are different

Some people call fairy cakes cupcake

Cupcakes are little cakes with a cake case that is much higher than the cake & filled with icing

How did they go, Katy? Did you get one?

KatyMac · 14/09/2008 22:03

He brought home a few

The icing was too rich apparently

I do not eat cake - at least not Victoria sandwich type cake, I prefer a fatless sponge
