My standard recipe is:

1.5 lb bread flour (white/wholemeal/mixed)
1-2 tsps salt
1tsp-1tbsp sugar/honey/molasses/malt extract
1.5-2 tsps quick action dried yeast
2tbsps oil
0.75 pints warm water (2 parts cold, 1 part boiling)

Mix dry ingredients, add wet ones, mix to a dough and knead for 10 minutes.
Leave to rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
Knead again then put into tins and leave to rise again.
Bake at 200c for 25 minutes or so.
It is done when knocking on the bottom of the loaf produces a hollow sound.

You may need to halve this if you only have one tin....

And you can add seeds, nuts, raisins, etc.

You don't actually have to use warm water with quick yeast, but cold dough is miserable to knead. Plus I think it rises better if you use warm.
