nappyaddict · 29/08/2008 23:07

do you use buter aswell as peanut butter?

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 30/08/2008 00:16

GROSS! NO.

You don't put butter as well as PB.

Barf.

Only a Brit would do that.

nappyaddict · 30/08/2008 00:18

I usually do jam on one slice, pb on the other and squidge together.

But should it be jam or pb on the bottom half?

Peanut butter, honey, sliced banana and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Mmmmmmmm.....

SqueakyPop · 30/08/2008 12:46

No butter, but you do really need something to moisten it up - ie jam. My kids make their sandwiches with either strawberry or grape jam.

MKG · 30/08/2008 13:24

Peanut butter, banana, honey
Peanut butter, nutella (scrummy)
Peanut butter, marshmallow fluff
Peanut butter, jelly

OR Elvis Presley favorite: Peanut butter, banana, honey, and bacon.

nappyaddict · 30/08/2008 18:27

i'm yet to find marshmallow fluff

PavlovtheCat · 30/08/2008 18:28

yes, of course!

Much prefer nut butter on toast, with oodles of butter first.

But then, I have butter on everything.

kittycats · 30/08/2008 19:40

peanut butter and banana inbetween 2 slices of toast and then the whole sandwich fried totally bad for you but so yummy.

No, just peanut butter,or peanut butter and bananas or peanut butter and jam , never butter.

Cashew nut butter is even better btw.

spicemonster · 30/08/2008 20:53

where can you buy cashew nut butter in the UK?

actually it's probably not a good idea that I know that

nappyaddict - you can get marshmallow fluff in selfridges food hall. I'd send you some only it's in a glass jar and weighs loads. Unless you really, really want it and you'd pay for p+p

falcon · 30/08/2008 20:59

Asda sell it, or you can get it from delis.

nappyaddict · 30/08/2008 21:29

we have a selfridges not too far away but thanks anyway. how much is it?

piximon · 30/08/2008 21:31

Yes we use butter as well in our house.

I made fluffernutter pancakes (pb & fluff) today. Yum.

maidamess · 30/08/2008 21:35

Brand of choice? Skippy. And always with butter too. This is why I am half a stone overweight.

Arbuthnot · 30/08/2008 21:35

Peanut butter and marmite here, or peanut butter and ham with a scraping of butter on the bread next to the ham. Yummy!

ByTheSea · 30/08/2008 21:36

No butter. You are already using a spread and that is peanut butter. After 11 years here, I still don't understand this fixation with buttering bread when you're using mayo or mustard or another spread such as peanut butter (although DH must have his butter). Anyway, try it the american way, with some strawberry or raspberry jam. DC love it!

maidamess · 30/08/2008 21:37

Ever had peanut butter and chicken, really thinly sliced? Thats dead nice.

nappyaddict · 30/08/2008 21:38

dd2 is sitting here with me salivating at the thought of peanut butter...dd1 v allergic so completely BANNED here...and we are vegetarians so very hard...but if we know she's away for a few days we might have...
peanut butter+marmite+lettuce
I think the butter/marg thing depends on how stiff the peanut butter is.

nappyaddict · 02/09/2008 07:21

well i just had peanut butter on toast which i have never had before. put the jam on first and then the peanut butter like i would on a sandwich but jam on toast first doesn't work cos it doesn't melt in. think i will do it the other way around next time.

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/09/2008 07:35

peanut butter on bread or toast, definitely no butter first, and a bit of watercress is fab with it (similarly watercress & marmite - always a dab of butter under marmite to help it spread)

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/09/2008 07:36

piximon - I'd forgotten about the joys of fluffernutter sandwiches !!

goldndiamonds · 02/09/2008 12:56

Never.... ! But add jam too sometimes. Or - please bear with me on this! - peanut butter on one slice of bread, mayonnaise on the other and iceberg lettice and jalapeno pepper slices in between... (or just cucumber slices if that's all you have). Lovely.

nappyaddict · 03/09/2008 08:40

PB and J porridge is nice too as is PB and nutella.
