yes definitely but you can get non-peel carrots in Sainsbury with super-clean skin with no blobs on. Mine come all covered in soil so don't have a choice.

Its not as important with organic ones, but with non-organic root veg such as carrots, they recommend peeling 3mm off due to pesticide absorbtion.
