We love liver. Chop it into thin bits, cover it in flour and fry - hot and quick. Deeelicious.

I was eating liver from when I was a baby (and lamb's brains apparently). An aunt of ours used to cut it into matchsticks and spell out our names with it.

Actually they love liver cooked in red wine with onions. Yum!!!!!!!!!!!

MorocconOil · 28/08/2008 12:16

Liver and bacon with onion gravy and mashed potato. Yummy.

lilolilmanchester · 28/08/2008 12:32

Liver with onions, mashed potato, onions and gravy.

Pan fried liver with chips and roasted tomatoes.

Liver, onion & mushrooms in a white sauce served with rice (my fave)

Liver casserole (Liver, onions, tinned tomatoes, stock baked in the oven)

tazmosis · 29/08/2008 00:32

liver with onions, garlic and flageolot (sp?) beans - yum!

Liver with onions and sausages - yum!

little slices of liver, dipped in flour then fried with garlic and chilli - yum yum! (but prob not for kids).

Also got to be lambs liver for me as pigs is a bit grainy.

hifi · 29/08/2008 00:37

its on a par with child abuse.what about tripe?

RambleOn · 29/08/2008 01:01

Love liver and onions with mash and gravy.

Can't do kidneys though - can't stop thinking that they were once full of piss

thumbwitch · 29/08/2008 01:04

same as tazmosis - pigs liver is cheaper but is pretty coarse and grainy; lambs or calves liver is finer texture.
i use liver instead of beef in stroganoff - much more tender than beef!

thornrose · 29/08/2008 01:07

Yuck. Fussy eaters were NOT allowed in my house but I finally convinced my mum I genuinely hated the stuff so she would begrudgingly put a sausage in the liver and onion casserole "especially for me".
It just tasted of bloody liver!

thumbwitch · 29/08/2008 01:16

btw I think your kids are perfectly old enough to have liver - we were eating liver and bacon casserole from a very young age (pre-school)

slim22 · 29/08/2008 04:50

mmmmmmmmm

chicken livers very cheap.

tazmosis · 30/08/2008 00:03

Hifi - tripe is just abuse! tastes and smells like poo! (or is it pooh?)

Ramble - I think kidneys taste of pee - disgusting.

murphyslaw · 31/08/2008 18:57

Cooked calves liver yesterday - pan fried in a little butter with an onion gravy - all 3 kids luvvved it - really chuffed. Plus it only cost £1.30 for a family of 5!!!

I do chicken livers. Quickly fry off with chopped onion, pepper, courgette, mushrooms, peas, meanwhile cook some rice. When rice is done, mix with the other ingredients. My boys love it.
