housebythelake - you could use these for hot food

My DC are firmly in the 'lets eat the same sandwich' every day for a year' camp. DH (who makes the lunches) tries to ring the changes a bit by inserting the nice ham/marmite into rolls, wraps, different types of breadwith varying degrees of success. Then adds:
fruit or dried fruit
cheese or yoghurt
flapjack/cereal bar

Having a sandwich epiphany!! You make up a batch of 5 sandwiches per child at the weekend and freeze them???

Any restrictions on what goes in them? You can't surely stick salad in them?

salad, no, toms, no, cucumber, no.

i mix grated carrot into tuna mayo, i'd be inclined to think that would work fine. but if your child likes a ham/cheese sarnie then off you go. i wonder if peanut butter would work too?

my mum swore that rolls worked better than bread btw, but there was a thread on here that said it was much of a muchness.

Umm, thanks to ShineyShoes, I have found these people on Flickr to be inspirational!

Aitch · 23/08/2008 15:42

do you think their kids eat all that stuff, eachy? genuine question.

EachPeachPearMum · 23/08/2008 19:22

Well- trying not to be smug.... mine would

But then, the little monkey eats anything and everything, in vast amounts.

chippyminton - sounds like we have idetical lunchboxes lol

I'm still in awe of the sandwich batches in freezer... it has genuinely never crossed my mind! and many a problem it solves too!

This is probably a bit out there, but I love this Vegan Lunch Box blog from the states, complete with photo of every lunch!

I too am in awe of the frozen sarnie thing. I wonder if philadelphia would survive freezing?

Aitch · 23/08/2008 20:31

i've seen that blog before, that woman is a mad genius. part of me does think she should do more charity work, though, iykwim?

i wonder about philly. full fat maybe, but i would worry about separation with the weirdy low fat ones.

I love the orange cosy! ....but yes- she has too much time on her hands!
She does have some excellent ideas though- and who knew oreos were vegan?
